Lt. Governor Francis Hopes 2008 is Violence Free PDF Print

Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis is urging Virgin Islanders to stop the violence in 2008.    Francis says he speaks for everyone who wants an end to violent crimes, particularly the gun-related crimes that are affecting the community.

In remarks made on New Year’s Eve,  the Lt. Governor said he hoped Virgin Islanders would usher in the New Year by putting down their guns.  “This practice of firing guns into the air to celebrate the New Year is one that puts our entire community at risk for injury,” he said.  “It is now a crucial time to put down the guns.  There are better ways to celebrate.”   Francis also stated that the wave of violent crimes means Virgin Islanders must try harder as a community to find non-violent ways to resolve issues.

Lieutenant Governor Francis, his wife Cheryl and the employees of the Offices of the Lieutenant Governor wish the Virgin Islands community a Happy New Year.
