Lt. Governor Francis Hosting Asthma Fair PDF Print

Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis invites the employees of the Office of the Lieutenant Governor to attend the Asthma Fair, which concludes the Helping Virgin Islanders Breathe Easier (H.V.I.B.E.) Asthma Awareness Campaign.  The fair will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Emancipation Garden on St. Thomas and Buddhoe Park on St. Croix from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The asthma fair will feature medical professionals conducting asthma screenings, sharing information about local resources and services, and demonstrating equipment that will enable the asthma sufferer to be more proactive in managing their disease.

I am encouraging all supervisors to allow employees who wish to support the Fair the opportunity to attend with their children or other family members that suffer from asthma, since asthma is a disease that impacts the entire family.  Employees will be permitted to utilize the two hours allowed by the Family Medical Leave Act to attend this event.

Although there is no cure for asthma, with better information about services, programs and equipment that can help them monitor their health; asthma sufferers can enjoy a better quality of life.

Let’s all be a part of Helping Virgin Islanders Breathe Easier.
