Lt. Governor Francis Named to National Policy Committee

Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis has been named to serve on a national policy committee for the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA).  NLGA is the professional association providing research and training to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.  Francis is serving as a member of the Policy Resolutions committee, which hears testimony on policy statements submitted by NLGA members.

Francis will serve alongside lieutenant governors from Massachusetts, Arkansas and Wisconsin.  Typically, the committee issues a call for resolutions, each of which must have bi-partisan sponsorship.  The resolution must pass committee then a majority vote of the body.  Passage of the resolutions enables lieutenant governors to speak with one voice in promoting legislative activity in the states and in Congress.

Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis has previously joined his counterparts from across the United States in sponsoring resolutions that support military families.  He has also   supported a resolution to raise awareness of cervical cancer and hosted free screenings throughout the territory as part of an NLGA initiative to end the disease.

Francis also serves as the East Region Chair of the NLGA’s Executive Committee.
