Lt. Governor Francis Says the School Year is Off to A Strong Start

Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis today said he felt confident that the 2014-2015 school year is off to a strong start after visiting two St. Thomas schools.  Francis visited the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School and the Ulla F. Muller Elementary School.

Governor Francis took part in welcoming parents and students at both schools.  “Everyone that I met was very upbeat and looking forward to a positive school year,” he said.  “Commissioner Donna Frett-Gregory and her leadership team, along with the school administrators, faculty and staff have worked hard to prepare our schools and create a welcoming environment for our public school students.”

He encourages parents to become more involved in their child’s school and education. “Parental involvement is a critical component to student success.  I hope that parents take the time to meet their children’s teachers, visit their classrooms and share their commitment to supporting a positive learning experience,” he stated.  “Our children and schools deserve our interest and input.”

Lt. Governor Francis plans to visit St. Croix schools on Thursday.
