Lt. Governor Francis to Address Economy & Budget Issues
at National Lieutenant Governors Association
Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis has departed the territory to attend the Federal-State Relations Meeting hosted by the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA). Lt. Governor Francis and twenty of his colleagues will gather in Washington, D.C. from March 17-19, 2010 to participate in economic forecasts, briefings from top officials and discussions regarding revenue growth.
Lt. Governor Francis is looking forward to the opportunity to meet with other state and national leaders. “This meeting offers me the chance to hear directly from leading authorities on Capitol Hill of actions which may impact the Virgin Islands and its residents.”
The two –day meeting will feature briefings on federal transportation issues, improvements in handling pandemic outbreaks, STEM education and cybersecurity. Attendees will also learn of legislative options to manage or reduce costs in health care, corrections, higher education and energy.
Lt. Governor Francis serves as the East Region-at-Large Democratic Leader of the NLGA Executive Committee. The NLGA is an entirely bi-partisan association of the second highest ranking officials of every state and territory.
