Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis offered his congratulations to the members of the St. Thomas Junior League Baseball Team for winning the Latin American Regional Junior League Championship on Saturday. The team, which beat the Dominican Republic in the final, now advances to the Junior League World Series where they will represent Latin America.

"This is a momentous occasion for our youth, our community and the history of this Territory,” Lt. Governor Francis said. “This is the first team from the Virgin Islands to win the regional championships and I am proud of the hard work that this talented team has put in. I know that these guys are capable of once again returning home champions once again."

Lt. Governor Francis also commended the coaches, parents and support staff of the team for their dedication and support over the years.

"It is their encouragement and their belief in these players that allowed them to believe in themselves,” he said. “Congratulations to all!"
