The Lieutenant Governor’s Office is hosting estate planning seminars throughout the territory as part of its ongoing consumer education and outreach programs. The seminars will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the UVI Great Hall on St. Croix and on Saturday, March 22 at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute on St. Thomas. Both sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to attend the seminars, which are offered at no cost to participants.
The seminars are planned as a proactive measure to many of the issues that occur throughout the various divisions of the Lt. Governor’s Office, which administers the territory’s property tax collection and unclaimed property program. “Here at the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, we have found that many situations involving our customers’ attempts to recover a deceased relative’s financial assets or resolve property ownership matters could have been easily avoided with basic estate planning,” says Lt. Governor Francis. “Our goal in offering this seminar is to provide our customers with the tools needed to make the best decisions about protecting their assets for future generations.”
Local attorneys with expertise in estate planning will lead the seminars. Persons interested in attending are asked to register by contacting 773-6459 or emailing
