VI SHIP/Medicare to Collaborate with DHS for Caregivers Conference
The VI SHIP/Medicare program is partnering with the Department of Human Services to offer informational sessions on Medicare during the annual Caregiver Retreat Conference, scheduled for September 26-28, 2014 at the Divi Carina Bay Resort on St. Croix. Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, community organizations and the Medicare eligible population are invited to attend.
On Friday, September 26, VI SHIP will present workshops on Medicare and program changes related to the Affordable Care Act. VI SHIP staff will also be available to answer any questions residents may have about the Medicare program.
Beverly Joseph, Acting Director of VI SHIP/Medicare, is looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the Department of Human Services. “We are always looking for ways to expand our outreach activities,” she stated. “As more people take on the role of caregivers, it is increasingly important that we reach this community to share information about the benefits afforded through Medicare.”
VI SHIP is a program federally funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and locally administered by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Persons or organizations interested in registering for the conference should contact the VI SHIP Office at 772-7368.
