Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach, Esq. announces that field crews of the Street Addressing Initiative (SAI) will begin work next week in the Downtown area of Charlotte Amalie. The work that will commence on St. Thomas is part of the Bridge Phase of the initiative. This phase consists of designated urban areas on St. Thomas (remainder of Charlotte Amalie), St. Croix (Christiansted and Frederiksted) and St. John. (remainder of Cruz Bay and Eastern Estates).

“Stakeholders and residents of the Downtown Charlotte Amalie area will see field crews collecting data for the standardized street addressing grid system. It is important to note that traffic will not be affected by the field crews and team members will not need to enter your homes. The teams will be identified by a marked car, wearing specific identification lanyards and crew uniforms,” said Lieutenant Governor Roach.

“Once the field crew has gathered the needed data, an information packet will be left on your door which will include official letters from core stakeholders, to include: VITEMA and VIYA. Your new address will also be included in the packet. Residents are encouraged to call the designated Street Addressing Initiative contact number should they have any questions or concerns at 340-693-6191 or send an email to: SAI@lgo.vi.gov,” said Lieutenant Governor Roach.

“Although the Bridge Phase focuses on designated urban areas, the next phase of the project will cover the entire Territory and impact areas on all four islands: St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, and Water Island. The initiative is being done in phases for efficient data collection,” said Lieutenant Governor Roach.
