Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach, Esq. announces a virtual “Welcome to Medicare” Information Fair on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The fair is open to beneficiaries who are new to Medicare, individuals who are approaching 65 years of age, or persons who may be eligible for Medicare due to a disability. There is no cost to attend.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor’s Virgin Islands State Health Insurance Assistance Program (VI SHIP) is hosting this event in partnership with the State Health Insurance Program’s National Technical Assistance Center.

The fair will provide information on Medicare eligibility, enrollment requirements, coverage options, and costs. Attendees will also learn about how Medicare works with other forms of insurance, such as employer insurance, Medigap supplemental insurance, and retiree insurance.

Beneficiaries will also receive presentations by national Medicare representatives regarding the federal government’s role in Medicare and steps to avoid insurance Medicare fraud.

All informational sessions will be offered with subtitles in English and a live transcript in Spanish. The staff of the VI SHIP/Medicare Office will also be available virtually via the platform’s chat feature to answer individual questions.
